D Irl 24955 ED; Aashleagh Falls, Co. Mayo (Rhododendrons)

Aasleagh Falls is located a short distance from Leenane village, just north of the Galway/Mayo border. This is picturesque waterfall, located on the River Erriff, and is located just before the river meets Killary Harbour. Parking is available at a lay-by close to the falls and a pathway exists which allows visitors to make the short walk to the waterfall. Salmon fishing is very popular at this location.

Although rhododendrons, in Ireland, tend to spread out too much and too quickly, I was taken by this lovely rural scene. The splashes of sunlight on the mountainside behind lent a warm atmosphere to the view.
